Baku Fortress

Until the 19th century, ancient Baku was surrounded by double fortress walls. In the Middle Ages, wooden drawbridges existed at the Shamakhi and Salyan gates, which led into the Baku fortress. At night, these bridges were raised, ensuring the complete security of the city.
