It is located on the commercial highway of the Baku Fortress in the direction of the Salyan gates.

An Arabic inscription is located above the entrance door of the mosque. The inscription reads: "During the reign of Sultan Sheikh I Ibrahim, the son of the Sultan, the late Sadr-al-Mohtaram Khoja Haji Yaqub, ordered the construction of this mosque in 818." In the Shirvanshahs' state, the Sadr was the third position after the ruler and the supreme commander-in-chief, and was a descendant. Sadr had great authority, and the Supreme Muslim clergy was appointed to this position. Merchants bore the title of "Khoja". Another inscription reports the restoration of the mosque by Agha Gafar Haji Murad oglu. Built in 1415/16 during the reign of Sheikh I Ibrahim, this mosque is called the "Sheikh I Ibrahim" mosque. The mosque has a quadrangular shape and is topped with an arched stone dome. In the 19th century, the facade of the mosque was divided into 3 squares, thus reflecting the European architectural style. Each square has a separate window, and the entrance is in the form of a portal. While preserving the content of the national architectural monument, local and European motifs were combined on a single architectural platform.
