Tekya
Tekya – a monument located on Boyuk Gala Street in Icherisheher. The monument was included in the list of immovable historical and cultural monuments of national importance by the decision No. 132 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 2, 2001. The building was built in the 13th century. In 1967, archaeological excavations were carried out around the Tekya. The Tekya was restored in the 1970s. After Azerbaijan regained its independence, a carpet shop operated in this building. On top of the building, there is a terrace-restaurant of the “Museum Inn” hotel. Places where dervishes worship are called Tekya. The building served both as a place of worship for dervishes and as a neighborhood mosque. The facade of the tekye faces south - to the Maiden Tower. The Tekya, consisting of one room, has an unusual plan, as well as a prayer hall enclosed in a square and covered with a system of stepped domes.
