Head of the Exhibition and Museum Collections Management Department
Key Responsibilities
Regularly research and monitor global museum trends, international best practices in museum collections management and exhibition design, including standards and guidelines developed by ICOM and other international organizations, and ensure their implementation within the institution;
Lead the development and implementation of projects related to museum digitalization, interactive exhibition solutions, and modern collection management systems;
Manage the department’s activities related to the development and renewal of museum exhibitions, organization of exhibitions and displays, and ensure the quality of exhibition content and presentation;
Ensure the proper registration, documentation, preservation, storage, and management of museum collections in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards;
Identify requirements related to conservation and restoration, engineering and technical support, security, procurement, information technologies, and other support services; prepare technical requirements and monitor implementation processes;
Ensure proper collection management procedures, including accessioning, inventory control, movement tracking, documentation, preservation, and risk mitigation;
Establish and oversee standardized workflows and quality control mechanisms for exhibition and collection management processes;
Organize and supervise activities related to collection registration, inventory management, collection movement, documentation, record keeping, storage conditions, and collection-related reporting;
Participate in the development of internal policies, procedures, and guidelines related to exhibitions and collections management, and oversee their implementation and effectiveness;
Prepare and present reports on departmental activities and performance indicators to management.
Candidate Requirements
Higher education in Museum Studies, Cultural Heritage, History, Art History, Management, or a related field;
Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field;
Minimum 2 years of managerial experience;
Strong knowledge of museum collections management, exhibition development, and museum operations;
Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative ideas;
Strong analytical, strategic planning, and management skills;
Experience in research, project development, and project management;
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and make timely decisions;
High level of responsibility, initiative, and leadership skills;
Strong communication and team management abilities;
Languages: Fluent Azerbaijani; good command of English and Russian.
