A medical-social campaign dedicated to “27 September – Memorial Day” was held

On 26 September 2025, a free medical-social campaign dedicated to “27 September – Memorial Day” was organized at the “Gala” State Historical-Ethnographic Reserve through the joint initiative of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Administration of the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve. The campaign was held for family members of martyrs and veterans, as well as local residents.

The official opening was attended by the Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee, PhD in Medicine, Honored Doctor Jeyhun Mammadov; Deputy Head, PhD in Medicine, Associate Professor Ismayil Afandiyev; Head – Chief Physician of the Central Customs Hospital, Doctor of Medical Sciences Bakhtiyar Musayev; Chairman of the Board of the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration Rufat Mahmud, along with doctors and medical staff.

General-major of the medical service Jeyhun Mammadov emphasized in his speech that the treatment and health restoration of veterans is always a priority of the head of state. For this purpose, the resources of all relevant government bodies are mobilized. He noted that today’s medical campaign, conducted by the specialized medical team of the Central Customs Hospital ahead of 27 September – Memorial Day, is primarily aimed at protecting the health of veterans, their families, families of martyrs, and local residents.

Chief Physician of the Central Customs Hospital Bakhtiyar Musayev highlighted that such initiatives significantly contribute to early detection of health issues and support the population in undergoing preventive examinations.

Chairman of the Board of the “Icherisheher” Reserve Administration Rufat Mahmud expressed gratitude to the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee and the medical team for providing high-quality healthcare services. He noted that such campaigns play an important role in safeguarding the health of families of martyrs, veterans, and local communities.

Within the campaign, doctors of various specialties from the Central Customs Hospital provided more than 500 medical examinations to 200 individuals, including cardiology, urology, endocrinology, radiology, neurology, ophthalmology, gynecology, therapy, pediatrics, and surgery. Individuals with detected health issues underwent ultrasound, ECG, EchoCG, X-ray and other examinations, received treatment recommendations, and were prescribed necessary procedures.

The campaign also aimed to raise awareness among the population about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early disease diagnosis. Following the medical examinations, many participants visited museums located in open and indoor areas of the “Icherisheher” Reserve.

It should be noted that the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee regularly organizes free medical-social campaigns in various regions. These initiatives not only contribute to public health, but also demonstrate the care and attention given to families of martyrs and veterans.
