The ancient and enchanting corner of Azerbaijan — Icherisheher — hosted a unique event that added a special autumn charm to the city. The “Olive Festival,” held from October 31 to November 2, was remembered as the first festival of its kind ever organized in the country.
During the three-day festival, organized by the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), visitors had the opportunity to discover the cultural, gastronomic, and ecological significance of olives.
The program featured a large exhibition-fair with the participation of local and international olive and olive-oil producers, art plein airs, a display of retro cars, and a variety of vibrant activities. Guests witnessed product presentations, demonstrations of the olive-oil production process, and live preparation of different olive-based dishes.
More than 17 restaurants operating in Icherisheher joined the festival by updating their menus and adding special olive-based meals. These culinary creations, prepared with the involvement of renowned chefs, were presented to visitors and received great interest.
In the decorative arts and handicrafts area, artworks inspired by the olive tree were showcased. Creative corners and interactive activities for children brought a warm and family-friendly atmosphere to the festival.
The Olive Festival laid the foundation for a new tradition in both culture and tourism. The event highlighted the special role of olives in Azerbaijani cuisine and daily life, combining local production, ecological awareness, and the beauty of the autumn season.
