Participation of Icherisheher Leadership in the International Symposium in Istanbul

Rufat Mahmud, Chairman of the Board of the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, took part in the international event titled “International Symposium: A Century of National Palaces,” held on 24–26 November in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.
The symposium, which holds significant importance in terms of discussing international experience in the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, restoration of monuments, and museumification, brought together leaders of palace museums and historical-cultural reserves from various countries, as well as scholars who delivered presentations on the management, restoration, sustainable development, museumification, and preservation of museum collections.
During one of the sessions, the Chairman of the Board delivered a presentation titled “From Preservation to Presentation: Transforming the Monuments of Icherisheher into Museums,” sharing information on the ongoing work and accumulated experience in the protection, restoration, and museumification of monuments.
As part of the visit, Rufat Mahmud also met with Mustafa Tural, the head of the Istanbul Historic Areas Directorate, responsible for managing Istanbul’s four historic monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. During the meeting, the sides discussed experience exchange in the management of historical reserves and potential avenues for future cooperation.
