An annual conference of ICMAH on "Museums, Collections and Industrial Heritage" was held in Baku on October 4-6.
The conference was hosted by the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” and ICOM Azerbaijan.
Representatives of various museums and art workers participated in the conference.
Addressing the event, Head of the Icherisheher Historical and Architectural Reserve, Asgar Alakbarov spoke about the ongoing works in mosques, buildings and other monuments of Icherisheher.
Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Sevda Mammadaliyeva noted the importance of the conference dedicated to museum collections.
Speakers also included Shirin Melikova (president of ICOM Azerbaijan), Paul Smith (employee of the Ministry of Culture of France), Mirta Alfonso Monge (representative of the National Museum of Paraguay), Bruno de Corte (historian from Belgium), John Kanenberg (representative of the Museum of Art, London), Reiko Sakaki (museum of tobacco and salt, Japan) and others.
The conference is held in Azerbaijan for the first time. The ICMAH Committee organizes such annual international conferences to resolve museum problems, share experiences between employees, and introduce innovations.
